Wealth and Advice Solutions Technology (WAS Tech) is an organization within Schwab Technology Services aligned to support the technology needs of Wealth and Advice Solutions (WAS) business which is a growth area for Schwab.

This Director position within WAS Tech reports directly to the Director of WAS Technology – Wealth Management. The role will lead discovery and implementation of client and advisor experiences, shared channel capabilities, and the next generation of portfolio management tools supporting Schwab’s flagship wealth advisory business serving high-net worth and ultra-high net worth retail investors with complex needs.

The role will require exceptional relationship management skills and close collaboration with the business and product teams, strategic vendors, and senior technology leaders across Schwab Technology Services.

The role includes hands-on management of both full-time employees and contractors including the vendor relationships with partner firms. The role encompasses establishing and directing the strategic and tactical goals for the teams, building a client-driven technology organization improving the software quality, platform, and technology service provided. You’ll ensure adequate and documented service levels across supported functions including production management, change management, vendor oversight, risk management in conjunction with both internal and external parties.

In addition to the functional responsibilities within the technology organization, the role will include establishing the target state architecture and executing the strategic delivery roadmap.

This role requires a highly motivated, organized, and experienced business-focused technology leader with a proven record of software delivery in a front office investment management, brokerage trading, and / or a fintech setting.

What you have


Required

  • 8+ years of experience leading engineering delivery teams in a wealth or fintech setting
  • 15+ years of software engineering and architecture experience
  • 5+ years of direct people leadership
  • Extensive experience leading engineering delivery teams inclusive of scope, scheduling, budgeting, and project planning in an environment with aggressive delivery goals and business outcomes
  • Proven record of delivering technology solutions within agreed upon budgets and timeframes across a large enterprise
  • Substantiated experience raising the bar on staff collaboration, delivery performance and cultivating high performance work environments with integrated teams and organizational oversight of key business architecture and investment data functions
  • BS software engineering or a similar discipline.
  • Significant experience transforming teams through defining and executing a strategy, technology, organization, culture, process, and business change management

Preferred:

  • Advanced degrees and coursework in business and finance is a plus
  • People leadership as a leader of leaders
