What is the relationship between Charles Schwab and TD Ameritrade?

TD Ameritrade is now part of Charles Schwab. TD Ameritrade and Schwab will continue to operate as two separate broker-dealers and custodians until the integration of our combined firms is complete.

Will TD Ameritrade stay a subsidiary of Charles Schwab indefinitely?

No.  When the integration of the firm is complete, we will be one broker-dealer and custodian, Charles Schwab & Co., Inc.

Is there a difference between working for either firm?

While we act as separate broker-dealers to our clients, behind the scenes our employees are working as one team to support our two brands. Both Schwab and TD Ameritrade employees support our combined vision of serving the investment, trading and wealth management needs of investors in every phase of their financial journey.

What is the interview process at Schwab and TD Ameritrade?

Both Schwab and TD Ameritrade brands have progressive and inclusive interview processes based on behavioral and technical competencies.  If your qualifications are a match for the role, a Talent Advisor will reach out to schedule an initial interview. If I am hired for a TD Ameritrade role, will I be working on Schwab initiatives and vice versa? 

Potentially. Depending on the role and the business alignment, there may be cross functional efforts, particularly as we get closer to full integration. However, the two entities are viewed as one company with the same goal: supporting our clients with a best-in-class experience.

How long will the background check process take and what are you checking for?

Background checks are business as usual and depending on personal and geographical history, will take anywhere from 2-4 weeks. 

You will be required to submit a Pre-Employment Drug Test (if applicable) and a Background check which will include criminal history, educational history, residential history, credit history (if applicable), fingerprint processing, and a review of your FINRA licenses (if applicable).  

Which company payroll will I be on?

Schwab and TD Ameritrade employees will remain on their respective company's payroll.

Does Schwab and TD Ameritrade provide visa sponsorship?

Visa sponsorship depends on a myriad of circumstances and is handled on a case by case basis.
