User Experience Designer
Your Opportunity
Your opportunity
At Schwab, you’re empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us “challenge the status quo” and transform the finance industry together.
We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in the specified location(s).
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without employer sponsorship.
At Schwab, great client experiences start with great people. We are looking for an experienced, collaborative, and adaptable User Experience Designer (individual contributor) to join the User Experience Team within Digital Retail. You will help create thoughtful digital experiences that make complex financial moments feel clearer, more useful, and more human.
This is an individual contributor role for a designer who has built a strong foundation in UX practice and is ready to grow through increased ownership, deeper collaboration, and broader product exposure. You will partner across Experience Design, Product, Engineering, Research, Content, and Design Systems to turn client needs and business goals into intuitive experiences across web and mobile.
The work matters because millions of clients rely on Schwab to make decisions about their financial lives. We are deeply focused on creating the best possible experiences for them. We are equally committed to building an environment where people support one another, share ideas openly, and help each other do the best work of their careers.
Why this role matters now
Client expectations are changing quickly. Mobile experiences, personalization, AI, and new interaction models are reshaping how people expect to engage with financial services. This role will help Schwab respond thoughtfully by contributing to clear, accessible, and consistent digital experiences that support clients with confidence.
The team you'll join
You will join a supportive group of designers, researchers, and content strategists who care deeply about clients, craft, and one another. We challenge ideas and value the people who bring them. We share work early, give direct and constructive feedback, celebrate progress, and step in when a teammate needs help.
You can expect leaders and teammates who create space for thoughtful design, encourage healthy debate, and support continued growth. Success here is not only about the quality of your individual work. It is also about how you collaborate, learn, and help make the work better.
What you'll shape
- Design user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity interfaces across desktop, mobile web, and native mobile platforms
- Translate business objectives, client needs, research insights, and technical considerations into usable, accessible digital experiences
- Support product design efforts from discovery and concept development through delivery and iteration
- Use established design system components and patterns to create consistent experiences, while identifying opportunities to improve clarity and usability
- Simplify complex financial workflows and information into experiences that feel approachable and trustworthy
- Explore thoughtful uses of AI-powered tools and emerging workflows to support design exploration, prototyping, and problem-solving
- Own design tasks and workstreams with support from senior designers, project leads, and cross-functional partners
How you will work
- Partner closely with Experience Design, Product, Engineering, Research, Content, and Design System teams
- Build trust through clear communication, transparency, accountability, and follow-through
- Participate in design reviews, critiques, workshops, and working sessions that improve the quality of the work
- Use research, analytics, client feedback, and design judgment to guide decisions
- Present design concepts and rationale clearly, while staying open to feedback and new information
- Raise risks, dependencies, and roadblocks early so the team can make informed decisions
- Contribute to a team culture where people share ideas openly, ask good questions, and help one another grow
You'll thrive in this role if...
- You enjoy turning complex problems into experiences that feel simple and useful
- You care about the details that make an interaction feel clear, polished, and accessible
- You are curious, adaptable, and comfortable learning through feedback and iteration
- You are energized by collaboration and believe the strongest work comes from bringing different disciplines and perspectives together
- You can explain your design decisions clearly and adjust your approach when new information changes the path forward
