Sr. Manager, Product Governance
Your Opportunity
Your opportunity
At Schwab, you’re empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us “challenge the status quo” and transform the finance industry together.
We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in the specified locations.
Schwab's Wealth and Product Risk & Governance organization supports some of the firm's most complex and strategically significant businesses -- spanning comprehensive wealth management, trust and banking solutions, and a broad suite of investment products and platforms serving clients across the full advice spectrum. As a first-line risk function, the team is built around a simple but powerful idea: that good risk management should enable the business to move at pace, not slow it down. R&G partners closely with product and business leaders to accelerate new offer and product launches, clarify accountability, and build governance infrastructure that scales -- bringing balanced risk discipline to every stage of the product lifecycle.
Schwab recently acquired Forge Global, a leading private markets platform that expands what Schwab can offer its clients. Private companies -- including some of the most recognized names in technology and innovation -- are staying private longer than ever before, and the opportunity to invest in that growth has historically been available to very few. Schwab is changing that, extending access to private markets in a way that is deliberate, client-first, and consistent with the trusted brand clients have relied on for decades. Private markets carry real and meaningful risk and building the right risk and governance infrastructure around this capability is essential to doing it well.
R&G is hiring a Sr. Manager, Product Governance to lead that effort for Forge and Private Markets. Reporting to the Director of Wealth and Product Governance, this is an individual contributor role with broad cross-functional reach, accountable for bringing structure, clarity, and disciplined execution to one of Schwab's most complex and high-profile integrations. The ideal candidate knows how to navigate Schwab's internal landscape, build trust across a wide range of stakeholders, and turn ambiguous governance challenges into organized, executable plans.
Key responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:
- Own the end-to-end product governance roadmap for Forge and Private Markets, ensuring that all relevant risk program requirements -- spanning supervision, disclosures, conflicts of interest, risk controls, and risk metrics -- are identified, sequenced, and addressed in a coordinated and timely way.
- Lead business-led risk assessments for Forge and Private Markets offers and products, defining scope, mapping governance requirements, and building execution plans that give product and business teams a clear, navigable path forward.
- Drive project management of cross-enterprise governance execution, including milestone tracking, dependency management, risk escalation, and accountability across a broad stakeholder set spanning wealth management, product, Schwab Asset Management (SAM), Legal, Compliance, and second line of defense (2LOD) partners.
- Track and manage capacity and dependencies across product teams, proactively identifying constraints and working with leaders to keep governance workstreams resourced and on track.
- Act as a trusted guide for product and business stakeholders navigating Schwab's governance process -- translating requirements into clear next steps, maintaining momentum, and reducing friction on the path to launch.
- Contribute to the ongoing evolution of R&G's Product Governance Program, bringing lessons learned from the Forge integration to inform how the team scales and improves this capability over time.

- Sufficient familiarity with risk program components -- such as supervision, disclosures, conflicts of interest, risk controls, and risk metrics -- to assess scope, sequence requirements, and identify gaps, without necessarily being a deep subject matter expert in each area.
- Judgment and flexibility in approach -- understanding that governance is not one-size-fits-all and knowing how to assess which tools and processes are right for a given situation.
- Proven ability to influence and align stakeholders across business, risk, legal, and compliance organizations without direct authority.
- Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex governance requirements into accessible, actionable guidance.
