Senior Manager - Strategic Planning, Banking and Trust Services
Your Opportunity
Your opportunity
At Schwab, you’re empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us “challenge the status quo” and transform the finance industry together. We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in the specified locations.
Senior Manager Strategic Planning, Banking and Trust Services will primarily be responsible for supporting Schwab’s firmwide move money/payment strategy and ongoing portfolio management, requiring insightful analysis, effective decision support, thoughtful stakeholder management, and efficient coordinated planning. We offer clients many ways to make payments and move money, including ACH, wire transfers, checks, debit cards, Zelle, and more. We are continuously evaluating new means of payment, while ensuring that it’s easy for clients and reps to move money across our channels (e.g., digital, phone, branch), lines of business (e.g., Retail, Advisor Services), and legal entities (e.g., bank, broker-dealer). The core focus of the role will be ensuring that we are managing across this ecosystem in a holistic, strategic way. As a strategy ‘integrator’, this role must be able to synthesize the complexity inherent in the systems, regulatory rules, client needs, and efficiency and growth opportunities at Schwab. The goal is to enable senior leaders across the firm to understand the ‘so what’ and to facilitate effective decision-making.
The successful candidate will coordinate with stakeholders across the firm, including platform, product, technology, operations, and client-facing enterprises. This will require analyzing opportunities, uncovering market trends, and facilitating trade-offs. Key deliverables will include materials for a monthly executive leadership move money/payments meeting on strategy and portfolio management, support of the annual firm-wide strategic planning process, along with analysis and meeting materials for ad hoc strategic topics. A successful candidate will leverage strong organizational, strategic thinking, planning, analytical skills, relationship management, time management and communication skills to deliver high quality deliverables within tight timelines.
This role sits within the overall BTS Strategic Planning Team. In addition to managing Schwab’s bank entities, BTS manages a number of products critical for Schwab’s clients and to the success of the firm, including bank sweep, deposits, lending, and bank and B/D account products. BTS also leads the cross-enterprise management of Schwab’s move money/payment capabilities. The BTS Strategic Planning Team coordinates strategic planning for BTS and move money/payments. While the focus this role will be on move money topics, this individual may also support other BTS strategic planning topics as needed.
