About the team:
Banking & Trust Services (BTS) is a product & offer enterprise that provides banking products and services to our clients and manages some of the firmwide functions that are critical to overall Schwab business ecosystem. Within BTS, Cash and Move Money Products organization oversees cash platform & strategy efforts, bank deposit products, move money & payment products, and BTS strategy & analytics function. Within that organization, Cash Platform & Strategy team manages a suite of client cash offerings and supporting technology platforms that collectively is the largest revenue generator for the firm, and has the mandate of strategic cash initiatives, including the broader firm’s cash strategy.
We are seeking a Senior Manager in Cash Strategy team to help drive Schwab’s firmwide cash strategy and associated project execution. Schwab offers a wide range of solutions to meet our clients’ needs for both transactional and investment cash. These client offerings must balance evolving needs across client experience, pricing, liquidity, and other regulatory requirements, while also contributing to the firm’s financial performance. These offerings also span Schwab’s lines of business, client segments, legal entities, and operational systems, meeting a diverse set of needs across our 35 million clients.
About the role:
Reporting to the Director, Cash Strategy, the Senior Manager will support Schwab’s firmwide cash strategy efforts, leading analyses and managing stakeholders to develop perspectives on strategic cash opportunities and implications for the firm. This will require integration of key cash-related components across many different lenses including client experience, pricing, product offerings, competitive landscape, regulatory environment, and financial impact / balance sheet management. Running rigor analyses, producing high quality content for storytelling, and stakeholder management for highly sensitive topic / confidential work across the firm will be critical to this role. Responsibilities will include:
- Lead strategic / data analysis to develop and maintain perspectives on strategic opportunities and implications for the firm
- Integrate key components of the cash strategy across many different lenses including client experience, pricing, product offerings, competitive landscape, regulatory environment, and financial impact / balance sheet management
- Provide insightful analysis and support effective decision making across a broad range of stakeholders and executive leadership
- Support the development of the materials for all Cash Strategy forum meetings
- Manage implementation / change management programs that may come as an outcome / execution of cash strategy efforts
- Develop strong relationships across the firm and cultivate the team’s linkages with client experience, product/offer teams, treasury, financial planning, corporate strategy, technology, risk management, and other cash related stakeholders at Schwab
What you have
Required:
- 5+ years of full-time work experience with a minimum of 2 years of experience in management consulting (strategy consulting firm preferred), investment banking, or internal strategy / corporate finance (treasury, strategic finance, corporate development, FP&A) at a large organization
- Bachelor’s degree - finance / accounting / business/ economics major preferred
- Analytical and strategic mindset to gather and interpret complex data (quantitative) and information (qualitative) to provide insights for decision making
- Strong financial / analytical modeling skills, with general knowledge of corporate finance / accounting concepts
- Demonstrated ability to develop “compelling decks” to communicate business strategies and recommendations to executive audiences
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as the ability to develop concise and effective communications tailored to specific audiences
- Attention to detail, sense of urgency, and proactiveness
- Comfort dealing with ambiguity in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment
Nice-to-have:
- Industry experience in a similar financial services company (broker-dealer firm, wirehouses/major bank, independent firm, wealth/asset/investment manager, etc.)
MBA and / or CFA - SQL experience
- Personal interests in Schwab as an employer / Schwab brand and / or in financial services / investment industry
