Operational Control supports Operational Services in managing risk through a well-balanced control environment. The organization owns approximately 30 applications and business led development/EUCs that support record retention and retrieval, reconciliations of the Firm’s books and records, regulatory communications, and various systems tied to risk management and control performance throughout Operational Services.

The Manager, IT Product Management Senior serve as a Product Owner (PO) of applications and EUCs owned by Operations Control. The PO will be responsible for facilitating the development and support of our ongoing modernization of the Operations Control application portfolio, with a specific emphasis on the suite of applications serving the electronic communications archival function of our Records Management organization (Smarsh Enterprise Archive, Digital Safe, Global Relay, etc.). The role demonstrates its business and technical expertise in partnership with technology and business partners to execute on a strategic vision including participation in design, requirements development, prioritization, development, testing, and certification activities. As a part of the Platform Strategy and Support team, the PO will lead diverse aspects of core Operations Control functionality and will require a mix of business and technical knowledge and possess a good understanding of the securities industry and software development life cycle.

This new role will reside within the OCTOPUS organization under Operations Control and will be responsible for the following:

  • Serve as the main contact between our business and IT partners to ensure that business requirements are well documented and technical solutions meet business strategies
  • Drives key decisions and communications related to prioritization of items in the backlog, application strategy, trade-off decisions, and investment.
  • Works closely with Operations Control program owners (e.g., Books & Records Control, Corporate Records Management) on prioritization and requirements associated with requests for development within systems such as Smarsh Enterprise Archive, Digital Safe, and/or other applications.
  • Utilize effective communication skills to engage with various stakeholders (internal and external), creating awareness with associated business lines and escalation when appropriate
  • Understand technical dependencies within systems that support the platform’s functionality
  • Adapt to changing priorities and managing multiple tasks including partnering with other Product Owners and technology to prioritize requests
  • Proficient in implementing comprehensive test plans including QA support, user acceptance testing and test script support
  • Advocate of efficient workflow and ensuring that process flows match the requirements of the business creating useful systems that meet operational demands, mitigate risk and improve the client experience
  • Training business users on new product features
  • Engages users in applying agile methodology and firm-wide release management requirements when making modifications and enhancements to associated applications.
  • Elicit, document, and manage business requirements
  • Provide thought-leadership on overall vision, roadmap for system development, and annual business plans and proposals including ongoing Program Increment (PI) Planning
  • Attend daily scrums, sprint planning, sprint review and sprint retrospective meetings when applicable

What you have


Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of records management or product owner experience; preferably in financial products
  • 3+ years of Agile training and knowledge of JIRA and Confluence
  • 3+ years of experience working with scrum/project teams
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills with internal and external customers; experience and comfort presenting to stakeholders and leadership teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to effectively manage and lead projects within a cross functional project team (internal and external technology, operations, product, and business organizations)
  • Ability to mentor junior team members and business analysists
  • Experience in the various facets of testing; test documentation, execution, and supporting others through the testing life cycle
  • Experience in assisting in business requirement gathering and documentation
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Visio and other MS Office Products  
  • BA/BS degree
  • FINRA Series 7 and 63
