The Bank and Brokerage Cash Products team manages a broad range of product management responsibilities for the firm, including bank deposit products, payments/move money capabilities, and brokerage cash features. Within that team, the Cash Feature Platform Management team supports a suite of client offerings and supporting technology platforms that collectively is the largest revenue generator for the firm, and has responsibility for strategic cash initiatives, including the broader firm’s cash strategy.
We are seeking a Director of Cash Strategy that will be responsible for driving Schwab’s firmwide cash strategy and associated project execution. Schwab offers a wide range of solutions to meet our clients’ needs for both transactional and investment cash. These client offerings must balance needs across client experience, pricing, liquidity, and other regulatory requirements, while also contributing to the firm’s financial performance. These offerings also span Schwab’s lines of business and legal entities, meeting a diverse set of needs across our 35 million clients.
You will lead Schwab’s firmwide cash strategy: proactively developing and maintaining a perspective on strategic cash opportunities and implications for the firm. This will require integration of key cash-related components across many different lenses including client experience, regulatory rules, balance sheet management, the competitive landscape, and product offerings. Providing insightful analysis, prioritizing of initiatives, and supporting effective decision making across a broad range of stakeholders and leaders will be foundational to this role. To do this, you are ready to leverage your strong ability to influence others, lead by example, and build strong relationship across the firm with many different stakeholders.
What you’ll do:
- Take ownership for Schwab’s firmwide cash strategy: proactively develop and maintain a perspective on strategic opportunities and implications for the firm
- Integrate key components of the cash strategy across many different lenses including client experience, regulatory rules, balance sheet management, competitive landscape, and product offerings.
- Provide insightful analysis and support effective decision making across a broad range of stakeholders and executive leadership.
- Manage the prioritization of Cash Strategy related projects
- Develop strong relationships across the firm and cultivate the team’s linkages with client experience, product teams, treasury, financial planning, corporate strategy, technology, risk management, and the cash related stakeholders at Schwab
- Coordinate monthly and quarterly executive Cash Strategy meetings
What you have
Required:
- 8–10 years of work experience in strategy, consulting, or corporate analytical function
- 2+ years of experience of experience with the financial/valuation concepts within a publicly traded complex financial services corporate environment
- Bachelor’s degree
- High degree of comfort dealing with ambiguity; comfort in a dynamic and fast-moving work environment
- Strong big picture thinking skills, but with the ability to appreciate the smaller details required for success
- Strong emotional intelligence, the ability to pivot quickly, and the ability to stay calm under challenging circumstances
- Superior analytical skills, creativity in problem solving, and attention to detail
- Superior collaboration skills, with experience leading others both directly and indirectly
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with demonstrated ability developing materials and effectively presenting to executive audiences
- Expert user of PowerPoint and Excel, with ability to effectively guide/train team to develop expert level skills
Preferred:
- MBA and/or equivalent post-MBA level experience
- Strong financial modeling skills
- Strong sense of intellectual curiosity for learning different areas within the business and how these interrelate
- The ideal candidate will have a strong interest / passion for the financial services industry and be personally and professionally aligned with Schwab’s vision and values
