SAM is seeking an Associate Portfolio Manager to contribute to the management and oversight of Schwab’s taxable bond index mutual funds and exchange traded funds (ETFs). This role will support day-to-day portfolio management activities across sector-specific and multi-sector strategies and will partner closely with senior portfolio managers, trading, technology, and operations teams.

The position will be based in Westlake, TX (Dallas–Fort Worth), reporting to the Head of Taxable Bond Index Strategies, and will adhere to Schwab’s workplace policy requiring employees to work onsite four days per week.

Key responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to: 

  • Assist with day-to-day management and oversight of U.S. Government securities (Treasuries, TIPS, and Agencies), securitized products, and corporate bonds
  • Support daily portfolio workflows, cash flows, exception monitoring, and ETF coordination
  • Contribute to automation, scale, and process improvement initiatives
  • Monitor and share market developments across the fixed income market includingin U.S. government bonds, securitized products, and credit strategiesbond markets
  • Partner cross-functionally on accounting, tax, product, and operational topics
  • Prepare charts, analysis, and materials for team and leadership meetings
  • Support research and implementation efforts for potential new products

What you have


Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s or graduate degree in economics, finance, statistics, mathematics, computer science, or a related quantitative field
  • 2-5 years of relevant fixed income or investing experience
  • Fluency and comfort with technology, including data access and management, and a working knowledge of common programming languages
  • Familiarity with index-based fixed income portfolio construction concepts
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Team-oriented mindset with intellectual curiosity and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Progress toward the CFA designation 

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
