The Risk Engagement team is responsible for empowering Schwab Technology Services and the broader firm to proactively manage cybersecurity and technology risk through governance, security awareness and risk culture programs designed to shape a culture of risk management and accountability. Our efforts directly influence behaviors and expectations across the firm to protect clients and Schwab assets.
The Standard Governance Office (SGO) is responsible for the development and maintenance of Charles Schwab’s Policies and Standards, providing the foundation of technology and cybersecurity programs.
The Manager, Technology Risk Management position is part of a highly engaged team dedicated to enhancing Schwab’s Technology Governance and Risk Management environment. In this role, you will have the opportunity to directly influence Schwab’s technology risk posture by participating in the creation of Standards aimed at protecting our clients and information resources.
In this role, you will be responsible for the following:
- Lead efforts to update and socialize technology and security Standards by engaging with Technology and Domain SME’s .
- Participate in governance activities required to drive socialization and approval of Standards
- Conduct gap analysis between Schwab Standards and Risk Frameworks (e.g., NIST, FFIEC) and deliver actionable recommendations.
- Design and implement workflow automation tools to streamline governance activities as well as consumption of Standards and Policies by Schwab personnel.
What you have
Required Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of progressive experience in technology operations, risk management, technical writing and/or document management
- Basic understanding of risk including familiarity with control frameworks such as NIST
- Experience and general understanding in technology development or operations
- Possess strong writing and verbal communication skills to work effectively with partners at all levels and across functional lines, bringing diverse points of view together to determine a clear direction forward
- Experience with GRC Tooling
- Ability to work successfully in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment. Requires excellent time management skills, ability to appropriately prioritize multiple competing demands
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
- Expert using Microsoft Office suite of tools
- Experience using and administering collaboration platforms including MS Sharepoint
- Innovative state of mind and ability to apply creative solutions to challenges as they appear.
- Passion for simplifying complex domains
In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
