As part of Model Risk Oversight, you will evaluate financial models, AI and machine learning systems, and cybersecurity analytics that support important business decisions across the organization. Your work will help promote accuracy, transparency, and responsible use of advanced analytics.
We are seeking a Senior Specialist to join our Model Risk Oversight (MRO) team. Designed for early-career professionals and recent graduates, this role provides the opportunity to work with some of Schwab's most sophisticated analytical models spanning quantitative finance, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and enterprise risk management. The experience gained in this position can support multiple long-term career paths across analytics, risk management, technology, and leadership functions within the firm.
Please note: This position is M-F during standard business hours with a hybrid work model (4 days in-office, 1 day working from home). It is only available in the areas listed. Candidate must reside or be willing to relocate on their own to one of the listed areas. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without employer sponsorship.
What you will do:
Evaluate analytical models supporting investment management, cybersecurity threat detection, artificial intelligence, enterprise risk management to identify risks, limitations, and opportunities for improvement.
Analyze model methodologies, testing results, and performance data to assess accuracy and reliability.
Perform independent analysis and communicate findings through validation reports and presentations.
Collaborate with developers, data scientists, and business partners across Schwab.

Required Qualifications
We are looking for an individual who demonstrates high energy, integrity, intellectual curiosity, and strong analytical ability.
0-5 years of professional experience, internships, or project work in finance, modeling, computer programming, quantitative research, cybersecurity, or related fields.
Bachelor's degree (or higher) in a quantitative field. For example: Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Cyber-security, Data Science, or Computer Science.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Exposure to programming, data analysis, machine learning, statistics, or quantitative research through coursework, internships, or personal projects.

You do not need to arrive as an expert in financial regulation or model validation. Successful candidates bring strong analytical thinking, intellectual curiosity, sound judgment, and the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly.
