In Corporate Operational Risk, our purpose is to govern, oversee, and continually improve the operational risk program through supporting and challenging business partners and raising risk awareness and understanding to improve risk-based decision making. We look to minimize operational risk impacts across all of the firm and its subsidiaries and affiliates. As a Manager, Data Risk Analyst, you will help advance a practical, enterprise-wide approach to data governance risk. Working across Data Risk Management, Technology Risk Management, Data Governance, and business teams, you will bring visibility to existing and emerging risks, strengthen risk-based decisions, and help the firm respond as the data environment evolves.

This is an opportunity to build broad partnerships, contribute to high-visibility risk work, and grow your knowledge at the intersection of business, technology, data, and operational risk. Your perspective will help leaders understand where risk is changing, evaluate how effectively it is being managed, and improve the controls and practices that support Schwab and its clients.

In this role you will:

  • Partner with business leaders to identify, assess, and monitor data governance risks, including risks that are emerging as the business and technology landscape changes.

  • Provide thoughtful, independent challenge on how business teams address data risk, helping strengthen decisions, controls, and accountability.

  • Contribute a data risk perspective to cross-functional projects and product reviews so that risk considerations are understood early and addressed effectively.

  • Build strong relationships across risk, control, technology, data governance, and business teams to support consistent and efficient execution across the firm.

  • Help maintain the team resources and communication channels that keep partners informed and connected.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • 1 to 3 years of professional experience in data governance.

  • At least 1 year of related professional experience working with databases and cross-functional process management.

  • Experience working across both business and technology or IT functions.

  • Working knowledge of relational data models and experience extracting data.

  • Working proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting data risk, operational risk, technology risk, compliance, controls, or a related discipline within financial services or another regulated environment.

  • Experience managing multiple cross-functional priorities that improve a data-related operating environment.

  • Knowledge of Agile ways of working.

  • Experience collaborating with team members and stakeholders across different locations.

  • Experience presenting analysis, risk observations, or recommendations to business and technology partners.

  • Demonstrated ability to build alignment across teams and apply sound judgment to complex, time-sensitive issues.
