The Financial Risk Management (FRM) team enables Schwab to make the most informed financial risk management decisions that are consistent with the Firm’s risk appetite by producing reliable, transparent, and insightful independent research and analysis. The successful candidate will work closely with our subject matter experts in the areas of Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) oversight of financial risks – credit, market, capital, and liquidity risks, across the firm.

In this individual contributor position, you will play a crucial role in continuing to enhance our governance, internal controls and risk oversight program through RCSA oversight activities and ensuring that our policies and procedure reflect the Firm’s established risk appetite and risk acceptance parameters while evolving with the regulatory landscape. You are expected to be a self-starter with the ability to manage a broad range of responsibilities. 

  • Perform RCSA oversight activities, including identifying KRIs, issuing Effective Challenge and Issue Management
  • Identify and rate key financial risks across the firm, including New Product and New Project risks
  • Conduct Risk Identification and Risk Assessment
  • Evolve essential elements of financial risk management including policies, frameworks, and procedures
  • Act as a primary point of contact to various business partners such as FRM SMEs, Enterprise & Operational Risk Management (EORM) and internal audit
  • Assist on emerging initiatives on behalf of Financial Risk Management

What you have


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 8 to 10 years of working experience within the financial services industry, preferably with a focus on treasury or risk management
  • 8+ years of working knowledge of financial risks – credit, market, capital and liquidity risks

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA
  • 5+ year experience in RCSA methodology and principals
  • Well-developed organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills to interact with business partners and senior management
  • Demonstrated ability to use good judgment and to work independently
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing requirements and assignments
