Our Defined Benefit Services teams provide actuarial, trust/custody, and participant administration services to clients with the objective of providing an integrated retirement plan experience. You play the critical role of primary interface between our plan sponsors, their partners, and the Defined Benefit Services we provide. 

You work together with a team to provide a coordinated approach to client service delivery in support of plan administration requirements and unique client needs.  The goal of these team-based efforts will be to drive higher levels of client satisfaction, client retention, and expansion of the overall Schwab relationship.  

What you’re responsible for

  • Manage the client relationship with the goal of client satisfaction and great client promoter scores.
  • Collaborate with business partners to deliver on client objectives. Be responsive to clients and partners, actively communicate project updates, and manage client expectations.
  • Utilize your expertise and engage the subject matter experts to assist with calls, presentations, and face-to-face meetings to ensure client understanding of available solutions to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Consistently explore and discover client and consultant needs by asking well-defined, open-ended questions to clearly uncover new business opportunities and relationship challenges.
  • Help clients navigate regulatory changes.
  • Support Sales efforts, as needed.
  • Understand and adhere to Schwab policies and practices and play a key role in the mitigation of operational and financial risk to Schwab

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience working with employer-sponsored retirement plans. Thorough understanding of retirement plan industry trends, ongoing regulatory and legislative processes impacting the client base and ERISA related regulations.
  • Defined Benefit plan experience and designations/certifications (ASPPA, CEBS and/or NIPA designation. QPA, CPC or equivalent certification/designations) are a plus.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to influence and build consensus among team members, leadership, and clients.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight by your manager.
  • Highly responsive approach to client and consultant requests. Excellent project management and time management skills. Ability to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines within a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to travel for client visits and sales presentations as needed.
