Charles Schwab’s Banking Operations is responsible for risk prevention, processing of money movements, and education of policies and procedures related to money movement.  We focus on maximizing operating leverage by integrating functions, increasing productivity and gaining efficiencies in order to better position Schwab to compete in the marketplace and to reinvest in areas that matter most to our clients.  As an elite team of experts, we are committed to delivering efficient solutions that maximize trust while minimizing risk by owning every client interaction through clients’ eyes.

What you'll do:

  • Participation in the performance of risk management internal audits for Banking Operations-specific tasks will include:
  • Produce evidence or documentation in support of audit testing
  • Document all aspects of audit work in accordance with departmental standards and procedures
  • Based on the results of audit testing, identify and draft audit observations for review by the Banking Operations Leadership Team
  • Demonstrate fundamental audit techniques and the ability to work independently on assigned audit tasks
  • Oversee the operational risk data provided by business units for use in risk identification, assessment and monitoring operational risk activities
  • Partner with business management to identify, monitor and control their existing and emerging operational risk
  • Challenge the effectiveness of the business' risk response
  • Provide advice and guidance to business managers regarding risk and the design of controls
  • Assist with tracking of team operations including audit status, issue status, and documentation     
  • Participate in the annual Risk Assessment process, including scheduling and participation in meetings with stakeholders and the scoring and documentation of risk ratings
  • Assist in managing the Risk & Controls Self-Assessment (RCSA)
  • Support Business Continuity efforts for Banking Operations, including review of the Business Impact Analysis (BIA) and Business Continuity Plan (BCP)
  • Assist in managing the Banking Operations’ 4 Record Retention Schedules
  • Assist with NACHA Risk Assessments
  • Assist with Important Business Process Mapping certifications
  • Contribute to the development of teammates

Required Qualifications:

  • 3 - 4+ years of financial services-related audit experience with increasing responsibility

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Financial Services experience, specific to risk management, internal audit and/or regulatory experience a plus
  • Expertise and experience dealing with Identity and Access Management (IAM) Controls
  • Demonstrated experience supporting internal audits amongst a complex operational and regulatory environment
  • Ability to work as a member of a project team and cultivate a strong working relationship with business partners
  • Excellent analytical skills, including the ability to anticipate issues and to design appropriate solutions
  • Excellent Organizational skills
  • Track record of providing sound guidance to business partners, peers and subordinates
  • Responsive to findings and remediation plans as appropriate and track through to completion
  • Experienced making timely decisions based on all available information 
  • Adaptable to an ambiguous and fast-changing environment, as duties may change with little notice in response to business, market, and regulatory needs
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently to bring projects and reporting to conclusion
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working in BlueWorks Live preferred
  • Experience with Fraud Models / Modeling preferred

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities
