Your opportunity

At Schwab, you're empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us challenge the status quo and transform the finance industry together.

We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in the specified location(s).

Engineering Operations is responsible for the engineering, deployment, support, reliability, and operational excellence of cybersecurity platforms that protect Charles Schwab's enterprise environment. The team serves as the bridge between Cybersecurity, Infrastructure Engineering, and Application Engineering by ensuring security technologies are deployed, monitored, maintained, and optimized at scale.

As a Security Engineer within Engineering Operations, you will design, implement, automate, support, and continuously improve enterprise security platforms across enterprise and vendor-hosted environments. You will partner closely with cybersecurity teams, engineering partners, vendors, and business stakeholders to improve platform reliability, increase operational efficiency, strengthen security controls, and reduce organizational risk.

The successful candidate will support enterprise cybersecurity services protecting tens of thousands of endpoints and users across a complex technology environment.

This role requires a strong technical foundation in systems administration, platform engineering, automation, troubleshooting, production support, and participation in on-call support rotations within a highly regulated enterprise environment.

  • Engineer, deploy, support, maintain, and continuously improve enterprise cybersecurity platforms throughout the technology lifecycle.
  • Act as the primary engineering owner for assigned cybersecurity platforms, responsible for operational health, availability, lifecycle management, roadmap planning, upgrades, risk management, documentation, and continuous improvement.
  • Design, implement, and maintain infrastructure supporting cybersecurity applications and services across enterprise environments.
  • Monitor platform health, availability, performance, deployment status, and security compliance through dashboards, alerting, observability solutions, operational reporting, and executive-ready metrics that support risk-based decision making.
  • Support enterprise security agent deployment strategies, health monitoring, validation activities, deployment governance, and operational reporting across endpoint platforms.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues; perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventative improvements that enhance platform reliability and resiliency.
  • Develop and maintain automation solutions, integrations, workflows, and operational processes that improve deployment, monitoring, validation, reporting, operational efficiency, and service delivery.
  • Partner with Cybersecurity, Infrastructure Engineering, Application Engineering, business stakeholders, and third-party vendors to resolve platform issues, support upgrades, and improve service reliability.
  • Support change management, release planning, deployment governance, validation activities, operational readiness reviews, and maintenance activities for cybersecurity platforms.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, knowledge articles, operational procedures, support runbooks, standards, and platform support documentation.
  • Participate in a scheduled on-call rotation supporting critical cybersecurity platforms and services, including incident response, troubleshooting, service restoration activities, and post-incident analysis.
  • Contribute technical expertise through mentoring, knowledge sharing, cross-functional collaboration, and technical leadership within the organization.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities to improve platform reliability, automation, operational efficiency, scalability, resiliency, and overall security posture.
