Collateral Management is a critical function of Treasury at the Bank. Reporting to the Managing Director, Head of Securities Funding and Optimization, this Director will focus on developing and executing a collateral management strategy integrated with the liquidity, capital and balance sheet management frameworks of Charles Schwab Corporation. This highly cross-functional role will partner with Liquidity, Capital, Securities Lending, Securities Finance within Treasury as well as Operations, and 2nd Line Finance Risk Management to build a scalable, regulatory driven optimization framework that supports growth under balance sheet expansive conditions.
What you have
Required Experience:
10-15+ years in collateral management, securities finance, clearing or prime services
Precise understanding of collateral requirements and post trade work flows of derivatives margin & securities financing markets (repo, sec lending, upgrades)
Ability to drive cross-functional initiative, influence stakeholders and effectively communicate to senior management in Treasury and Finance
Comfortable working in control-heavy, regulated environment
Experience staying abreast of the evolving regulatory landscape and demonstrating impeccable judgement to prioritize numerous initiatives in flight
Detail orientated and execution focused
Proven team leader
Bachelor’s degree required
Key Objectives:
Define and lead firmwide strategy for collateral allocation
Identify and reduce trapped liquidity and inefficient collateral usage
Drive collateral optimization initiatives across Derivatives Margin, Secured Financing and Securities Lending/Borrowing transactions
Improve visibility into firmwide, intraday collateral requirements and availability
Partner with Liquidity on collateral forecasting models under base and stress scenarios
Partner with Treasury Command Center to develop post allocation analysis models to identify and drive consistent efficiency improvements
Ensure collateral management strategies are aligned to evolving regulatory landscape (15c3-1, 15c3-3, LCR, etc.)
Establish clear ownership, governance and escalation processing for collateral usage
Strengthen controls, documentation, and auditability for collateral management roles and processes
Serve as senior communicator and integrator across Liquidity, Securities Finance and Optimization, Securities Lending and Operations
In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
