Managing Director, Regional Market Executive (RME) – Northwest

The Managing Director, Regional Market Executive (RME) – Northwest is responsible for leading a territory of ~17 branches across HI, AK, WA, OR, ID, and UT. This includes direct oversight of 11 Branch Managers and their teams, who deliver Wealth Management services to individuals and families to meet their financial needs. As a senior leader, the RME is accountable for driving sales and relationship management excellence, fostering a culture of compliance and supervision, and executing Schwab’s strategic priorities for accelerated growth and operational excellence. The RME partners with Branch Managers to develop and execute effective local business plans aligned with Schwab’s broader strategic goals and growth initiatives. Additional responsibilities include advancing Schwab’s Branch Network priorities, supporting the Branch Network real estate strategy, and representing the Schwab brand across the Northwest territory.

Working in close partnership with their team, the RME inspires a shared vision for success and growth across the branch network. This leader is responsible for guiding multiple, diverse geographies within the region and partnering with Branch Managers to elevate Schwab’s brand presence and reputation in local markets. As a coach to a team of coaches, the RME ensures consistent focus on client acquisition, retention, and growth, while fostering staff development through performance management, coaching, and employee engagement. The role requires strong virtual leadership capabilities to effectively support geographically dispersed teams.

The leader can be based anywhere in the Region.

Key Responsibilities: 

Leadership & Culture

  • Serve as a visible ambassador of the Schwab brand, consistently representing its values in all interactions.
  • Champion enterprise-wide initiatives by leading change management efforts across the region, ensuring alignment and adoption at all levels.
  • Translate corporate-led initiatives into localized leadership messages that resonate with teams and drive engagement.
  • Deliver consistent execution of internal and external sales activities and strategies including design, implementation, training, communication and assessment of initiatives, contests, incentives in support of retail and organizational sales goals.
  • Inspire and motivate teams through transparent communication and coaching, fostering a culture rooted in trust, accountability, and success.
  • Model Schwab’s core values through actions and decisions that earn and uphold client trust.
  • Drive employee engagement within the assigned market by promoting positive outcomes and implementing actionable plans to address areas of opportunity.
  • Facilitate active participation in all communications, including Area sales meetings, to ensure alignment and collaboration.
  • Lead authentically, make tough decisions and think beyond the immediate issue at hand.
  • Through collaboration, effective communication and partnership, network with employees within the region and externally across regions/departments to resolve issues, gain needed information and influence action taken and outcomes.
  • Adapt leadership style to connect meaningfully with staff, peers, leaders, and clients.
  • Cultivate a high-performing, diverse team with complementary skills and abilities. Foster a sense of community across the area, resulting in sharing standard methodologies.

Business Strategy & Execution

  • Operate with an ownership mindset to support the development of comprehensive local business plans aligned with Schwab’s strategic priorities and the broader Branch Network objectives, with a focus on growing market share and client assets.
  • Define clear, measurable goals and performance expectations for designated locations, and regularly communicate progress to ensure alignment and accountability.
  • Implement and evaluate targeted campaigns to drive sales performance and enhance client engagement.
  • Champion operational excellence by identifying and executing process improvements that increase efficiency and elevate the client experience. Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Practice effective resource management, fully using our current investments and advocating for high value additions.
  • Grow, enhance and use internal/external business partnerships to influence business success.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of competitor and industry trends through proactive market intelligence (e.g., advertisements, recruitment activity, community involvement, mystery shopping) to inform local strategy and communications.
  • Support Branch Manager’s responsibility for local leadership and uniqueness of that market, helping them optimize local opportunities.

Talent Development & Management

  • Coach Branch Managers and team members to elevate leadership capabilities and team performance through regular formal and informal coaching.
  • Build succession plans and recruit top talent to support long-term growth.
  • Hold employees accountable for achievement of quantitative and qualitative measures.
  • Promote a culture of recognition, development, and accountability.

Risk & Compliance Management

  • Drive a culture of Compliance and Risk Management.
  • Proactively identify audit and compliance risks in partnership with the Supervision and Controls Team.
  • Ensure Branch Managers observe Financial Consultants’ sales practices to support effective coaching and risk oversight.
  • Uphold Schwab’s brand and shareholder value through strong stewardship and ethical leadership.
  • Maintain working knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures, and seek compliance or legal guidance when necessary.
  • Implement and carry out Charles Schwab & Co. Inc. policies, procedures and supervisory systems for all the individuals subject to his/her supervision (including individuals who are supervisors). This includes compliance with The Charles Schwab & Co. Inc. compliance manual, business unit specific policies/procedures, federal/state securities laws/regulations and applicable rules of FINRA, NASD, MSRB, CBOE, NFA and exchanges of which Charles Schwab & Co Inc. is a member.
  • Ensure all individuals under supervision, including supervisors, are appropriately qualified through relevant experience, licensing, and training to perform their responsibilities effectively.
  • Distribute new and amended policies/procedures as they are published and provide training on such when needed.
  • Implement appropriate security measures to safeguard Charles Schwab & Co. Inc. books/records and proprietary and client information.

What you have


Required Experience:

  • 10+ years of sales and leadership experience in a financial services capacity of similar scale and complexity. 
  • Prior sales management experience as well as exposure to other branch functions including Operations, Technology, Human Resources, Supervision, Compliance, etc.
  • Ability to build trust and cultivate partnership, resulting in a positive and effective culture within locations, as well as across the larger team
  • Consistent record of building and developing strong and collaborative teams through engagement and collaboration
  • Ability to set clear expectations and hold teams accountable for significant results, raising the team up to their full potential through coaching and support.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Active and valid Series 7; 9/10; and series 66 required.
  • Active and valid Series 24 preferred
