The Senior Manager, Business Continuity and Incident Management position lies within Schwab’s First Line Risk Management Office (1RMO). This Senior Manager will apply a broad range of existing knowledge, skills, and experience in the front-line operational resilience domain, which includes 24x7 on-call crisis response rotation, determining the impacts from business disruptions and disasters, facilitating the response and recovery from incidents, identifying department exposure to internal and external resilience threats, and implementing sound strategies that provide effective response and recovery from disruptions for the organization.

The 1RMO organization will rely heavily on this Senior Manager for coordinating response to crisis events for a wide variety of physical, operational, technological, and cybersecurity incidents as needed and will coordinate and facilitate crisis response exercises, including tabletop exercises and emergency notification system (ENS) tests. This Individual Contributor will play a key role in executing day-to-day preparedness, response, and recovery activities of the Incident Management Program. As a subject matter expert in Business Continuity and Incident Management this person will serve internal business partners and Schwab leadership to strengthen the overall resiliency of the firm through conducting and promoting Business Continuity Planning and Incident Management awareness and training activities as needed.

The role will report into Schwab’s First Line Risk Management Office, specifically to the Incident Management leader with joint responsibility to support the Business Continuity leader.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in any field
  • 5+ years of experience in any of the following fields: Financial Services, Crisis or Incident Management, Crisis Communication, Emergency Management, Criminal Justice, and/or Business Continuity domain experience
  • Availability to work a 24x7 on-call crisis response rotation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with facilitating Emergency Response activities in response to an exercise or event
  • Understanding of the financial services industry, banking, and associated regulations
  • FINRA licensing (e.g., SIE, 7, 99)
  • Certified Business Continuity Professions (CBCP), Master Business Continuity Professional (MBCP), and/or FEMA Professional Development Series (PDS)
  • Project management experience and leadership of Business Continuity and Incident Management related strategic initiatives
  • Refined verbal and written communication skills; must be extremely comfortable with and highly effective at communicating to senior management
  • Experience with Business Continuity Planning, Incident Management, and Governance Risk and Compliance software
