We are looking for a data-savvy Performance Specialist to join Schwab Asset Management (SAM) as a Manager-level individual contributor on our Performance Analytics team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the analytics of our fixed income funds and ETFs, as well as providing local leadership for automation projects.
As a key member of the team, you will analyze, present, and report on the performance, attribution, and statistics of SAM’s investment products to both internal stakeholders and the public. Your role will involve delivering timely insights, fostering a data-driven culture, and ensuring the accuracy of client reporting.
The Manager will lead or support various team initiatives, collaborating with technology and product leaders to enhance the quality and efficiency of our reporting and data delivery processes.
This role will be a part of the Schwab Asset Management organization. Key Responsibilities for this role include:
- Expertise in Performance Analytics: Demonstrating deep knowledge of markets, attribution and analytical concepts related to mutual fund and ETF performance data.
- Programming and Automation: Crafting and optimizing SQL and Python scripts to enhance reports and automate processes, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
- Innovative Analytics: Identifying and implementing new, valuable analytics and reporting for our investment products’ performance and portfolio attributes, working closely with key stakeholders.
- Efficiency and Coverage: Leveraging automation tools and techniques to expand the scope and speed of operational reporting, maintaining a relentless focus on timeliness and accuracy.
- Collaborative Relationships: Building strong partnerships with technology and product teams to develop best-in-class review processes, identify and resolve pain points, and deliver value-added performance data analysis.
- Communication Skills: Excelling in both written and verbal communication, effectively conveying complex data insights to all levels of management and business teams.
- Industry Trends: Staying informed about the latest industry and functional trends, and applying these insights to drive continuous improvement in team initiatives.
What you have
- Financial Services Experience: 5+ years of experience in the financial services industry, with a focus on investment performance reporting, analysis, and/or attribution.
- Technical Proficiencies: Advanced technical skills in SQL and Python, with experience in creating and optimizing scripts for reporting and automation.
- Collaboration and Communication: Strong collaboration skills and the ability to effectively communicate with business partners and stakeholders.
- Dynamic Environment: The ability to thrive in a complex, dynamic environment, demonstrating solid judgment and organizational skills.
- Self-Starter Mindset: A self-starter who is detailed and analytical, with a strong intellectual curiosity to understand how things work and a continuous drive to enhance workflows and processes.
- Preferred Tools and Platforms: Experience with Aladdin, Bloomberg, FactSet, and Morningstar is preferred.
- Advanced Education: An advanced degree or designation such as an MBA, CFA, CIPM, or CIMA is preferred.
- Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred.
In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
