Located within Financial Crimes Risk Management, Fraud Risk Management protects our customer and company assets. We conduct investigations and provide resolution for claims of unauthorized or suspicious activity in our customers’ accounts. Our group partners with business units across the firm to assess vulnerability of products, procedures and processes to fraud. We report fraudulent activities to law enforcement, review and analyze suspicious activity to determine emerging fraud trends, recover funds loss from custody, and file Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR).

The primary responsibility for the Manager is to take an incident referral from initial evaluation and prioritization through to completion, determining the facts of each case and accurately recording these in the investigative record. Vital aspects of this process include the recovery of funds lost from custody and fulfilling all regulatory requirements, such as the preparation of Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR). These investigations require the ability to conduct effective telephone interviews and forensic research and document the written results in the case management system in a clear and logical manner. The Manager will interact with our most significant business partners including: Identity Theft Team, Customer Verification & Research Center, Move Money Operations.

What you’ll do: 

The Fraud Investigation Manager will report to the Fraud Investigation Team Manager and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Manages the Investigation of fraud cases, interviewing clients & key stakeholders, placing disbursement holds, recovering assets, analysis of internal and external information and filing regulatory reports Complexity of case types could run the spectrum
  • Ensures Regulatory compliance
  • Prepares Suspicious Activity reports
  • Exhibits strong leadership and will lean in whenever needed to support the team
  • Manages the resolution of escalation requests
  • Assists with identification opportunities that will improve fraud investigations and maintains a high level of client confidence

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience working in a fraud, compliance, or risk environment of the financial services industry or financial investigations experience
  • Proven expertise with financial investigations demonstrating risk-based judgement, problem solving skills and strong analytical ability
  • Ability to analyze issues and develop problem solving methodology with minimal guidance
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a high-volume, high-pressure environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Reg E
  • Experience in the areas of ACH and Check fraud investigations
  • Demonstrated skills related to individual case/workload management
  • Strong time management skills utilizing a risk-based approach to prioritizing and completing daily tasks
  • Must have strong interpersonal, influencing and facilitation skills, with strong oral and written communication ability
  • Ability to make a strong individual contribution to the development of a high functioning team
  • The talent to demonstrate leadership which inspires colleagues and promotes team adaptability
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work independently while also collaborating with team members as well as internal business units and industry peers
  • Exceptional client focus: ability to effectively and quickly form relationships and establish trust, respect, competence and confidence
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain strict adherence to regulatory guidance regarding Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) filings as they relate to fraud as well as internal compliance standards and guidelines
  • Experience creating or preparing Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR)
  • Law enforcement experience, securities license(s), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Anti Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) and related designations a plus
  • BS/BA degree preferred
