SDA is a department focused on firm-wide strategic decision support, client behavior diagnostics, advanced analytics, market research, client loyalty, management reporting, and data management. Our mission is to help Schwab compete on analytics – in particular, to serve our clients and cultivate their loyalty by understanding their needs and goals better than anyone – and make strategic decisions in a data-driven, fact-based, sophisticated manner. Our services are in heavy demand due to our reputation for strong business insight, outstanding productivity, and attention to detail.

Within the Schwab Data and Analytics department we are hiring seven positions in different tracks. Within all of these tracks in the Schwab Data and Analytics department, there will be inspiring opportunities that welcome you into the Schwab culture and immerse you into your role. The interactive program focuses on a variety of opportunities which feature a business track project, an intern cohort project, learning activities, volunteering in the community, a dedicated intern leader, networking, and exploring your unique personal strengths!

Corporate Analytics (location Lone Tree, CO or Phoenix, AZ)

In this role you will deliver business insights from data to drive growth and enable data-driven decisions through quantitative analysis of behavioral, transactional, demographic, and financial data. We are seeking an intern who has a unique combination of financial services expertise, analytic curiosity, technical depth, and business execution. You will leverage a range of descriptive, inferential, and reporting methods against relational and unstructured data stores, collaborate with a variety of business analytics teams to formulate insights on total company performance and progress against strategic priorities

Data Center of Excellence (CoE)- Product Management (location Lone Tree, CO or Westlake, TX)

In this role you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the what, how and why around Data and Analytics, at scale. The Data Center of Excellence, together with our tech partners, provide the ecosystem to the firm for our business data and analytics capabilities, through industry leading tools like Google’s BigQuery, Power BI and Tableau, and brought together with processes and controls.  And all at an exciting time as we embark on a revised strategic implementation program. 

Data Center of Excellence (CoE)- Enterprise Data (location Lone Tree, CO or Phoenix, AZ)

In your role, you will learn about the data eco-system at Schwab and how our data consumption community leverages our analytic data environment to answer business questions, develop business metrics, and understand client behaviors.  Along the way, you’ll help us mature our data development processes but helping to document & create guiding principles and procedures related to data intake, data completion, and how-to use our data.  You’ll also be exposed to processes associated with introducing new data sources or developing newly create data assets that make it easier for data consumers to perform analytics and develop metrics.  You’ll gain exposure to Schwab’s data development lifecycle, work across the data consumption community to understand their business needs, help develop new data requirements, and perform acceptance testing of new data solutions.

Digital Retail (location Lone Tree, CO or Austin, TX)

In this role, you will gain exposure to industry-leading: data and analytics tools, practices, and tenured analytics professionals. Your work will center around an intern project focused on client interaction analytics.

You will learn best-in-class data and analytics practices and techniques. This opportunity will focus on our clients digital journeys, and will look to provide client experience (CX) insights from the ground up. This experience will enable you to hone in on data visualization, SQL, and scripting skills.

Schwab Data Science (location Lone Tree, CO, Austin/Westlake, TX, Omaha, NE or Ann Arbor, MI)

In this role, you will develop complex algorithms using advanced modeling techniques (e.g., predictive and prescriptive) to interpret data, extract insights, and help produce data science solutions to enable better decision-making.

Work with large data sets and leverage cutting edge machine learning techniques (e.g., neural networks, large language models, time-series forecasting, ensemble learning, and unsupervised learning) to train historical data to predict the validated course of action for pre-specified outcomes. Engage with business partners to understand business needs and share results.

SDA for Workplace Financial Services & Retirement Business Services (location Lone Tree, CO or Westlake, TX)

In this role, you will work directly with business partners and colleagues to develop and support reporting for Workplace Financial Services and Retirement Business Services, which will include a high degree of data visualization, data architecture, technical language skills, user-driven analysis capabilities, all geared toward driving action and business growth.We are looking for a self-driven student with a strong interest in business intelligence reporting, statistical modeling, relational databases, SQL, and data analysis. This position will be responsible for providing valuable insights, analysis, and reporting in support of Workplace Financial Services and Retirement Business Services.

Trading Services (location Lone Tree, CO, Austin, TX or Omaha, NE)

In this role, you will gain hands-on experience within SDA and Trading Services by supporting important business objectives through data analysis, reporting, and visualization. As an intern you will work directly with business leaders and SDA team members to understand the underlying business needs and initiatives, and empower decision makers with valuable insights. Over the course of the internship you will be exposed to the inner workings of an enterprise-wide analytics organization, including ample opportunities for networking and technical skill development. Work with a robust data warehouse and reporting tools to review, analyze, and evaluate key financial services data related to trading behaviors and trends.

  • Enrolled in a current undergraduate or graduate program tracking to a bachelor's, master's degree, or PhD.
  • Targeting graduation between August 2025 through June 2026
  • And if you receive a full time offer after your internship, the ability to start full time employment after you graduate anytime between December 2025 through September 2026

Preferred Qualifications

Corporate Analytics (location Lone Tree, CO or Phoenix, AZ)

  • Strong business acumen, strategy, and stakeholder management
  • Basic SQL, data analysis, and data visualization skills
  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Quantitative field; significant additional coursework in business preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of SQL for data retrieval and engineering as well as Python / R / SAS for analytics

Data Center of Excellence (CoE)- Product Management (location Lone Tree, CO or Westlake, TX)

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Data Analytics
  • Curiosity to learn how to assess the design and operating effectiveness of business and IT processes.
  • Optimism with keen sense of purpose, awareness, and knowledge
  • Resourcefulness and flexibility, who enjoy working through cross-functional partnerships and collaboration to achieve a common purpose
  • An innovative and questioning demeanor, who constantly look for better ways to do things, have a passion for service, and seek to exceed client expectations

  • Strong understanding of the software development life cycle
  • A passion for analyzing data & aligning it to business process
  • Ability to partner across many teams to understand needs
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Must be willing to work in an environment with fluctuating requirements, learn enterprise wide strategies, objectives and manage through competing priorities to identify solutions with the widest enterprise benefit
  • SQL experience and strong data literacy is required

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher: Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Systems or Business
  • Experience with data science techniques such as profiling, a/b testing, ensemble learning, unsupervised learning, deep learning, feature reduction, time-series forecasting, Bayesian statistics, etc.
  • Experience in data profiling, data mining, data cleaning, feature engineering, and predictive analytics
  • Understanding of data warehouses and related data platforms
  • Hands-on experience with data tools and programming languages including SQL and Python
  • Experience with data visualization
  • Hands-on experience with big data and cloud computing

SDA for Workplace Financial Services & Retirement Business Services (location Lone Tree, CO or Westlake, TX)

  • Pursuing a degree in a relevant field such as Statistics, Business, or Computer Science
