This is a Production Support role including a focus on site reliability engineering (SRE) supporting the Schwab Bank and Cashiering applications. The L2 Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Application Support team will support the Banking and Cashiering systems encompassing money movement, deposit products, lending products, and trust products.  In this business facing role, the SME will be interacting with several internal and external teams, driving issue analysis and resolution, recommending solutions, and helping to promote the overall support strategy. The position also focuses on increasing application reliability and stability through improving processes, defining and managing service level objectives, monitoring performance, and managing change.

What you have


  • 2+ years of functional domain knowledge of Cashiering and Move money applications
  • 1-2 years of Schwab technology domain experience as a current or recent contractor or employee
  • Ability to triage and troubleshoot complex issues across application, platform, and infrastructure
  • Strong problem-solving skills with ability to analyze and understand data and metrics
  • Self-motivated with exceptional oral and written communication skills, ability to communicate clearly and concisely
  • Ability to forge strong relationships and coordinate effectively with multiple parties during outages and actively communicate updates to Application Development and Business partners
  • Detail oriented and organized with strong analytical skills
  • SRE and monitoring availability, service level objectives, error budgets
  • Fidelity Information Systems (FIS) application and integration knowledge:  Profile, PD Teller, Code Connect, ADS
  • Read access and query knowledge for the Schwab Customer and Account Technology (CAT) Corporate database access (CDB)
  • Pivotal Cloud Foundry knowledge of deploying, starting, stopping, restaging applications
  • Monitoring tools:  Splunk queries, alerts, and dashboards; AppDynamics, and Thousand Eyes
  • Atlassian Tools Suite:  Jira, Bamboo, and Confluence
  • Job Schedulers:  Control-M
  • SQL Data Query, Manipulation, Definition, and Control Languages: SQL Server and Oracle
  • SQL Server Reporting Services development
  • ITIL service management in BMC Remedy

Preferred qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience in SQL server, .Net programming skills
  • Operating Systems: Windows, Linux and Cloud based environments (Pivotal Cloud Foundry, Google Cloud Services)
  • Possess knowledge of managing the Linux OS (RHEL 6, 7 & 8 preferred) and use appropriate commands to perform tasks
  • Knowledge in shell programming:  Bourne, Korn & Bash
  • Knowledge of scripting languages:  shell, Perl, Python, Ruby, PowerShell
  • Knowledge of storage technologies:  SAN & NAS
  • Have a good understanding common network services such as DNS, load balancers, VPNs, dedicated circuits, firewalls, and proxies
