Wealth and Asset Management (WAM) Engineering is an organization within Schwab Technology Services aligned to support the technology needs of Schwab Asset Management (SAM), Wealth & Advice Solutions (WAS), the Schwab Center for Financial Research (SCFR), and Third-Party Platform teams. WAM Engineering Technology Operations, an organization within WAM Engineering, provides Technology Operations support to SAM, which is a critical area for Schwab.
As a member of the Schwab Wealth and Asset Management Tech Ops – Production Support and Change Management, the individual will be supporting a suite of on-premise, Saas and on Cloud Investment Management systems and working closely with key business stakeholders, application developers and third-party vendors and data providers for issue analysis and resolutions. The individual will be responsible for continuous improvements in the Level1 and Level 2 production support teams; improve and streamline critical business processes - Overnight batch process, Business Ready Checks, Health Checks Automation; help to promote the overall support strategy, including transformation initiatives of automation and proactive monitoring of infrastructure and processes. List of duties include, but not limited to the following:
- Proactively detect, troubleshoot, and resolve all issues affecting production applications. This involves coordination with and escalation to development and external teams where necessary. This team is responsible for all issues escalated to WAM Engineering until they are resolved or a workaround is provided to end users
- Provide clear, concise, and timely communication to affected parties during the investigation and resolution of any individual or system-wide outage
- Responsible for ensuring the Change Implementation Management policies are adhered to for all changes deployed to Production
- Work with development teams at the appropriate stages to ensure the support strategy guidelines are followed and new systems or projects meet the Production standards
- Continuous update knowledge repository, ensure information regarding any support related activities or issues are available and easily accessible
- Responsible for servicing all requests for data or other activities that require access to Production systems
What you are good at:
- Strong understanding of Data attributes used in Asset management applications - Security, Positions, Benchmarks
- Familiarity with Data Transformation, Integration, Analysis, Data Warehousing and cloud services such as AWS, GCP
- Be able to manage an outage incident, coordinate user communications, and collaborate other teams to help resolve an incident
- Strong ownership mentality with a focus on customer satisfaction. Be able to easily communicate with business users to discuss their issues and work through to a resolution
- Solid track record in an operational/support role, understands incident/problem/change management and how to drive stability across organizations
What you have
Required Qualifications:
Technical/Vendor Product skills
- 7+ of experience in Windows, Linux and public cloud environment
- 7+ years of experience in Microsoft SQL Server and cloud databases
- 7+ years of experience in Informatica ETL
- 5+ years of experience in Debuggers, Splunk, AppDynamics
- 3+ years of experience with Control-M or any enterprise scheduler
- 5+ years of experience in at least one cloud environment such as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud and/or Microsoft Azure
- 3+ years of experience in monitoring tools such as Grafana, Datadog, Splunk
- 5+ years of experience in Github, BitBucket or Bamboo
- 7+ years of experience in software development life-cycles and best practices
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree from a top tier university, preferably in Computer Science
- 7-10 years of support/developer experience in financial services, preferably Asset Management
Preferred Qualifications
- Asset Management Industry Knowledge
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, C# or Java, dotNet, JavaScript, and shell scripting
In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
