Schwab’s Insights & Education team produces award-winning articles, videos, publications, and courses for Main Street investors and traders. You’ll see our work throughout our website and on YouTube. Our goal is to ensure Schwab's current and prospective clients learn how to build a financial future hands-on with some of the best tools and educational content in the industry.
As a Financial Writer, you will join our Editorial team, helping to inform and educate self-directed traders and investors. Your area of focus will be education and market updates related to trading, specifically equities, cryptocurrency/digital assets, options, and futures. You will create timely updates, helpful education, and useful commentary and analysis that helps investors be more informed and better equipped to take on the markets.
What you have
Required Qualifications:
- 5 to 7 years of experience in financial writing and markets/business journalism.
- Published work samples demonstrating writing on market events, trading/investing strategies, and a range of asset classes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- News savvy, paying daily attention to corporate, economic, geopolitical, social, and consumer trends that can move markets. You read widely, build source relationships easily, and follow the dialogue on social media closely to fuel new articles.
- Accessible and engaging writing style that can be understood by any reader.
- Interest in trading/investing education.
- Experience writing on a deadline; every week, you’ll be producing new stories that should be ready to go to our editing desk after a single review from a Source Editor before compliance review.
- Respect for style, with the ability to toggle between AP Stylebook and Schwab’s internal style manual.
- Excellent headline, caption, and social media writing skills with the ability to write smart, eye-catching headlines, chart captions, callouts, social media posts, and related metadata. · CMS familiarity.
- Experience working with geographically dispersed teams and offering feedback on other team members’ work prior to publication.
- Enterprise software skills and expertise in the Microsoft Office suite for basic communication and copy creation. Hires should be prepared for training in other platforms as well.
