Schwab has been doing in-house, native mobile development for several years but every business channel in Schwab is increasing their presence on the mobile platform. We are looking to grow a robust, engaged mobile development team that is passionate about delivering an excellent mobile experience for our users. Schwab’s ever growing mobile user base is asking for more features and more and interesting visualizations and interactions. As a Senior Android Developer, you will be responsible for leading the development efforts and providing guidance to the engineering team across Schwab's suite of mobile applications for Retail, Retirement, and Intelligent Assistant. You will participate in design discussions as well as mentor and remove roadblocks for engineers on the team.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with senior stakeholders to understand business requirements and help translate these into technical requirements for the development team
  • Directing the development team in the design, development, coding, testing, and debugging of applications
  • Serve as adviser or coach to mid-level developers and analysts
  • Design and integrate solution endpoints into applications, endpoints in this context meaning a device or node that is connected to the LAN (Local Area Network) or WAN (Wide Area Network) and accepts communications back and forth across the network.
  • In-depth knowledge of current technological trends, developments, and best practices in information security, wireless network architecture, technologies, and concepts.
  • Knowledge on integrating feature flagging tools such as LaunchDarkly and Optimizely.
  • Experience with implementing unit test cases using Expresso, Gerkhin, Mokito, Mock etc. tools
  • Familiar with analytics tools such as Adobe, Mixpanel, Amplitude, AppsFlyer etc.
  • Experience with code repository tools such as GIT, BitBucket, SVN etc
  • Exceptional OO design and development skills

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 7+ years of Android development experience with team leadership experience
  • Extensive experience developing complex Android applications in an enterprise environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and deep experience coaching and mentoring junior developers
  • Experience with REST, JSON, XML and interfacing Android applications to server-side APIs.
  • Proficiency with Kotlin strongly preferred
  • Experience using modern AI/LLM development assistants (e.g., Copilot, Gemini, ChatGPT, or similar) to support development, design, coding, and testing
  • Solid grasp of algorithms, memory management, and real-time communications
  • Familiarity with Agile practices
  • Hands-on experience supporting multiple versions of Android SDKs, screen resolutions and device types.
  • Expert understanding of the Android SDK and NDK

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
