As a Release Manager, you’ll help shape the future of digital investing by managing and improving release processes for our Personalized Investing applications—covering robo-advisor and automated investing products for clients and advisors.
What you are good at
Do you enjoy working closely with development and operations teams to guide them through the steps to release a product? Do you constantly look at ways of improving processes to reduce risk through automation? Are you the one that brings groups together to ensure that changes are looked at from different lenses?
The Release Manager position is part of a development team responsible for building enterprise web-based applications within the WAS Tech Digital Advice and Financial Planning organization. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of successfully leading releases for enterprise software applications in an Agile environment.
We're looking for technology leaders who are enthusiastic about digital financial products, innovation and guiding teams to build exceptional software solutions. The role will require a high level of responsibility and strong sense of ownership yet has a support structure necessary for development growth.
What you’ll do
- Planning – Coordination across multiple teams, adhering to release schedule and business alignment.
- Risk Assessment – Code freeze processes, scope, quality and review sessions.
- Executing – Release coordination, release tactics and issue management. Own E2E evening release deployments and validations
- Measuring – Establish, mature and automate release metrics.
- Process Improvement – Tool improvement, process automation and innovation.
- Change Management – Owning E2E creation and approvals for change tickets
- Education – Constant education for stakeholders and engineers.
What you have
Required must have
- 4+ years in enterprise software development. - They don't have to be a developer but should know the SDLC / OOPS concepts ~
- 3+ years demonstrated real world experience building and operating Release Management practices.
- Experience with IT Service Management Tools, JIRA, Confluence, Bamboo Deployments, GitHub - BMC is not necessary/ other IT service mgmt (ITSM) tools is okay - BMC or HP + change ticket mgmt (BMC Remedy)
- Strong problem solving and the ability to partner with Product Owners, DevOps engineers, Release Engineers and other engineers across an organization.
- Experience documenting and improving processes around Release Management best practices.
- Experience with Agile processes, working with Agile teams and leveraging Agile tools in order to accomplish Release Management goals.
- Strong facilitation, organization, communication, and collaboration skills.
- A dedication to the client experience and the stability and reliability of production environments.
Nice to have
- Experience with creating BMC Helix Dashboards and Tableau
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering (or equivalent experience).
